ANTIQUE BLOUSE
e r a : 1900s
f a b r i c : cotton
f a s t e n e r s : buttons, hook & eye
d e s i g n e r : unknown
d e t a i l s : Absolutely incredible 1900s Edwardian cotton blouse. The most interesting one I have ever come across by far! The front is done in Point de Venice needle lace and depicts a sailor or gondolier wearing a middy shirt surrounded by swirling flower design. The rest of the shirt is covered in embroidered acorns. Acorns have have a rich history in symbolism and represent patience, fertility, victory and potential. It's been associated with many cultures and gods and goddesses throughout time. This has 3/4 length sleeves and plenty of pintucking details. Back button closures and hook and eye at the waist. So special and perfect to add to an antique collection.

c o n d i t i o n : Overall good condition. I believe the arms were probably longer when originally made - they are currently hemmed at around 3/4 length. There is a very slight spot on the front upper bust, but it's very hard to see.

NEED TO KNOW:
✦ MOST sales are considered final. Returns can be reviewed on a case-by-case basis if there is a significant error in the listing. Time is spent to give accurate measurements on each item, so I unfortunately can not offer returns for items that do not fit. TERRASITA also can not accept returns on undergarments, bathing-suits, or items from the 1920's or earlier due to their fragile nature. Additional absolutely no returns or exchanges on Layaway items.
✦ Vintage clothing is pre-worn and pre-loved and as a result some pieces may show signs of wear or use. I carefully inspect each item and disclose any signs of wear in our detailed descriptions.
✦ If you have any questions about fit, color, or need any additional photos, please don't hesitate to ask questions before you decide to purchase. I want you to be happy with your item!
✦ SIZING - Vintage clothing sizing does not reflect modern standards. When determining size, make sure you account for enough room to move comfortably. Additionally, vintage clothing is more fragile and should be worn with this in mind. Occasionally there are seam allowances or darts that can be removed, as well as tailors that can alter a vintage item to fit your particular shape.
When determining size I recommend measuring the following:
HIPS: measure around the fullest part of your hips.
BUST: measure over the fullest part of your bust while wearing a bra.
WAIST: measure around the smallest point of your natural waistline.
SHOULDER TO WAIST: measure from the very top of your shoulder - where the seam would lie, down the front, over the bust, to your waistline.
LENGTH: measure from the top of your shoulder, down the front, and to the point where the hem would be. Inseam measurements for pants would be measured from the inside of the leg at the very top of the groin, down to the hem.
✦ SHOE SIZING - I take actual measurements inside the shoe from toe to heel, as well as width measurements inside the shoe as accurately as possible.
