Beautiful Edwardian ivory silk and net wedding dress with sheer bell sleeves.

[i n f o]

* brand: A. A. Davie Geneva New York - Anna A. Davie, dressmaker. From 1897-1901 she and a sister Margaret were dressmakers from their home. From 1901 to 1913ish, she worked at Frances Carney’s dressmaking shop (Frances Carney is another local name). By 1915 Carney is gone (deceased?), and Anna is dressmaking at home again. In the 1921 directory Anna has her own dressmaking shop, then she’s living at the shop address with her sisters Catherine, Helen, and Margaret. 1929 is the last mention I find of her in the directories or newspapers – don’t know if she died or moved.
* sheer net bell sleeves
* v neckline with net trim
* faux pearl detailing over the entire torso and down the front
* inside corset style construction with hook and eye and snap closures
* loose fitting straight style skirt
* removable train

Bust: up to 35"
Waist: up to 27" (this is the smallest point and hits at empire length above natural waistline or below the bust/upper ribs)
Length: 52" (from shoulder to bottom hem of front) 107x33" (train size)
Hips: 42"

Overall great condition with no holes and some light scattered spots. The silk fabric is quite luminous/soft and I don't find the light spots to be noticeable when worn. A few tiny holes in the netting of the sleeves near the wrists - again, I don't find them noticeable. Some light spots on the train - minimal. Some pearls missing from the edge of the train. I added a few hook and eyes to the train where it attaches to the dress. Originally it had snaps but the snaps are small and I didn't have any matching backs. I would suggest you have new snaps placed on the dress/train to make it more secure if you're going to use the train.

Thanks for looking!

NEED TO KNOW:

✦ MOST sales are considered final. Returns can be reviewed on a case-by-case basis if there is a significant error in the listing. Time is spent to give accurate measurements on each item, so I unfortunately can not offer returns for items that do not fit. TERRASITA also can not accept returns on undergarments, bathing-suits, or items from the 1920's or earlier due to their fragile nature. Additional absolutely no returns or exchanges on Layaway items.

✦ Vintage clothing is pre-worn and pre-loved and as a result some pieces may show signs of wear or use. I carefully inspect each item and disclose any signs of wear in our detailed descriptions.

✦ If you have any questions about fit, color, or need any additional photos, please don't hesitate to ask questions before you decide to purchase. I want you to be happy with your item!

✦ SIZING - Vintage clothing sizing does not reflect modern standards. When determining size, make sure you account for enough room to move comfortably. Additionally, vintage clothing is more fragile and should be worn with this in mind. Occasionally there are seam allowances or darts that can be removed, as well as tailors that can alter a vintage item to fit your particular shape.

When determining size I recommend measuring the following:

HIPS: measure around the fullest part of your hips.

BUST: measure over the fullest part of your bust while wearing a bra.

WAIST: measure around the smallest point of your natural waistline.

SHOULDER TO WAIST: measure from the very top of your shoulder - where the seam would lie, down the front, over the bust, to your waistline.

LENGTH: measure from the top of your shoulder, down the front, and to the point where the hem would be. Inseam measurements for pants would be measured from the inside of the leg at the very top of the groin, down to the hem.

✦ SHOE SIZING - I tale actual measurements inside the shoe from toe to heel, as well as width measurements inside the shoe as accurately as possible.
